Learning outcomes:
1. systematic understanding of the basic aspects and concepts of GIS and databases;
2. the ability to use a variety of methods, including modern geoinformation technologies.
3. ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the scientific and mathematical principles underlying geoinformation systems;
4. ability to demonstrate basic knowledge of the current state of affairs and the latest technologies in geoinformatics.

Summary of the subject:
The concept of geographic information systems. The functionality and structure of geographic information systems. Sources of geospatial data in geographic information systems. Models of spatial data in GIS. Modelling of surfaces. Structures database for data management. Cartographic modeling. Thematic Mapping. Methodology and scope of the overlay, network and specialized analysis. Topographic and geodetic and cartographic support work related to geographic information systems and technologies. National Geospatial Data Infrastructure. Big data in geoinformation technologies. Organization of databases in systems of spatial localization data. Organization of selection using the language SQL.
