Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning: If the previous qualification level was obtained in another country the nostrification by Lviv Polytechnic National University is required. There are no mechanisms for recognizing the non-formal and informal education.

Characteristics of the educational program:
Students receive the required knowledge for training masters in the heat and power engineering by specializations: 144.1 Heat power plants and 144.2 Heat and power engineering. The scope of their activity is research in the field of the heat power engineering of housing and communal services, industrial CHP, TPP, and NPP; modeling of heat processes of heat power equipment, the staging experiments, and processing of the experimental data to optimize the heat power equipment and analysis of their indicators of work, the development and introduction of new technologies of using low-quality fuels, alternative and renewable energy sources. During studying, the students master the modern software and technologies for image and mathematical data processing. The total amount of curriculum — 90 credits of ЕCTS, including: the cycle of the humanitarian and the socio-economic bloc — 6 credits, the cycle of professional and practice training — 84 credits.
Gained competence:
- principles of designing and development of construction elements of heat-and-power equipment in accordance with the demands of the Product Requirements Document;
- completion of the Product Requirements Document, executing of the technical-economical analysis of the effectiveness of the designed equipment and development of technical documentation for new constructions;
- principles of modelling of heat engineering processes of heat transformation into work and use of novel non-conventional and renewable energy sources.
- principles of planning and carrying out experimental research aimed on the improvement of the existing processes of heat-and-power engineering units;
- principles of developement of the measures ensuring the exploitation and repair safety of heat-and-power equipment;
- usage of means, instructions and rules, which ensure of occupational safety, safety technique and manufacturing sanitation.
- ability to implement new scientific and technical achievements in the branch of thermal energy;
- ability to design and to develop the elements of equipment of power plants according to the Product Requirements Document;
- ability to form optimum criterion and carry out the optimization of construction of thermal energy equipment using modern achievements of science and technique in the branch;
- ability to carry out projects aimed at modernization and reconstruction of equipment of thermal energy objects;
- ability to organize technological processes of heat engineering providing the reducing of environmental pollution;
- ability to carry out technical and economic analysis of efficiency of heat engineering objects;
- ability to carry out experimental studies of objects and technological processes of heat engineering.
- ability to use professional knowledge and practical skills for projecting optimization of heat power engineering units of any difficulty;
- ability to use professional knowledge and practical skills for solving certain problems of energetics;
- ability to analyze, evaluate and create the technical solutions, which improve the effectiveness of the usage of energy resources in objects of heat and power engineering;
- ability to execute evaluation of the existing technologies, on the basis of the analysis to form the requirements for the development of the perspective energy technologies;
- ability to formulate a scientific or engineering problem, to prove the choice of the methods for solving the problem, critically assess the obtained results and defend the made decisions;
- ability to participate in a scientific discussion, present the results of research work in the form of scientific texts.

Academic mobility: Don’t need, but the mobility is encouraged and recognized under the procedures of ECTS.
Work placement(s): Pre-diploma internship according to the Master's thesis.

Occupational profiles of graduates: Master can perform the following professional work (according to the National classifier of Ukraine "Classification of occupations" ДК 003: 2010): •2145.2 — design engineer; •2145.2 — equipment integration engineer; •2149.1 — junior research fellow; •2149.2 — research engineer; •2149.2 — debug test engineer; •2149.2 — engineer of calculations and models; •2149.2 — engineer in the introduction of new techniques and technologies; •2149.2 — designer (power engineering); •2149.2 — consultant (power engineering), and can hold the position of assistant, teacher of various levels schools, as well as primary research and management positions of grassroots management personnel and also nomenclatures positions of scientific institutions and organizations, industrial enterprises, design organizations.
