Lviv Polytechnic academic staff. Each IoT student has the opportunity to study new subjects, participate in hackathons and conferences and develop his own devices in a modern university laboratory. Mykola Matsiakh, its first graduate, told in more detail about the opportunities and prospects of studying within the Internet of Things program.
– Why did you choose Lviv Polytechnic?
– In fact, I considered the specialties more than the universities. In I. Franko Lviv National University I considered the option of studying Applied Mathematics, but when I saw that a new program appeared under the auspices of Lviv IT Cluster, I decided to change the status quo to something new.
–What were your expectations and impressions from studying within the Internet of Things program?
– Impressions far exceeded expectations. When from the first week of training we had lectures and practical classes in the offices of SoftServe with the involvement of cool experts, I realized that I was in my place and I was lucky not to make a mistake in choosing a specialty.
– What opportunities did you get due to the program?
– Firstly, due to the knowledge I gained, after the 2nd year of study I started working in IT and developing as an engineer. On the other hand, I got a very cool skill – the ability to learn. It motivates me to try new technologies and not stop.
– What are the main advantages of IoT training?
– I can tell a lot about training, but, in my opinion, the biggest plus, which still encourages entrants with the highest scores in the external evaluation to apply – is project work in a team. From the first term of study, students work in a team on their own projects. No one gives them topics, they themselves look for questions, brainstorm solutions and with the help of a mentor from an IT company present the minimum viable product at the end of the first semester. Another plus is that experts from IT companies, who work in this field and are aware of the latest technologies and trends, are involved in teaching and accepting laboratory works. This allows you to get the required staff, knowledge that is valued in the market.
