Mrs. Isabelle Dumont, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of France in Ukraine visited University. Rector of Lviv Polytechnic, Professor Yurii Bobalo, warmly welcomed the guest and highly appreciated France's support for Ukraine's efforts to become a full member of the European family of nations. He also expressed gratitude that Mrs. Dumont assisted University to enter such an authoritative international organization as the International Organisation of La Francophonie, which includes 845 universities from 120 countries. There also was an interesting discussion about the growth of academic mobility between Ukrainian and French universities.
After negotiations, the rector Yurii Bobalo and the director of the Alliance française de Lviv Nicolas Facino signed a cooperation agreement. It provides expanding of cultural, educational and scientific cooperation that recently developed between the parties that have signed this important document. Also it provides, in particular, consultations for University students about studying at higher education institutions in France, internship of postgraduate students and lecturers, as well as presentations of French Government Scholarship programs.
Another point of agreement is the issue of teaching the French language, history and culture of the French-speaking countries in Lviv Polytechnic. The parties agreed to work together in order to significantly reduce the cost of such courses for students.
The meeting was also attended by Anne Durufle, the director of the French Institute at the Embassy of France in Ukraine, Professor Oleh Matviikiv, the vice-rector for Education and International Relations of Lviv Polytechnic, and Professor Nataliia Hotz, the head of the Center for International Education at University, who made a lot of effort to let such a productive meeting take place.
