According to the Rector’s order of the Lviv Polytechnic National University (№ 72-10, 23.04.2002 ) the Department of Finance was established on the basis of the Economics, Finance and Accounting Department. Over the years it has become a leading center of the qualified specialist training in Western Ukraine and has achieved a considerable success in the research and scientific works. Its achievements are more than 500 research works, including about 370 published articles, 17 textbooks, books, and study guides.
The Head of Department is Sc.D., Professor Ihor Alyeksyeyev. The teaching staff consists of 4 Sc.Ds, professors, 25 Ph.Ds, associate professors. The leading specialists are involved in teaching a specific courses. The uniting of the highly qualified faculty with experienced practitioners has its advantages, that effect not only on the level of training, professional preparation of specialists, but also on their personal qualities, outlook, the level of understanding of social situations and breeding. High scientific potential allows the Department to provide the appropriate level of specialist training in the new economic conditions.
