After completing a course, a specialist must know:
• laws and regulations on personal and social safety measures.
• basic principles of personal and collective safety;
• methods and tools for monitoring emergencies, building models (scenarios) of their development and evaluation of their social and economic consequences;

A specialist must be able to:
• determine the level of risks, detect, analyze and assess the environment in terms of personal and social safety;
• make independent decisions on taking immediate actions in case of emergencies;
• ensure personal safety in emergency situations;
• develop and implement a system of measures aimed at preserving human health and its harmonious development;
• evaluate the negative factors of the environment and identify the ways to eliminate their effect on humans;
• administer first aid in emergency situations to themselves and other victims;
• evaluate and monitor working conditions to ensure compliance with the established labour standards;
• develop measures to eliminate the causes of accidents and occupational diseases;
• make decisions on safety within his/her powers.
