Learning outcomes:
• to know specifics and methods of biomedical information analysis;
• to know the structure and principles of functionality of international banks of biomedical information;
• to know bases and algorithms for processing and analysis of biomedical information;
• to know the main methods of genetic information processing and algorithms of biomedical images processing;
• be able to use computer resources and information for analysis and interpretation of different type biological data (sequences of DNA, RNA and proteins, metabolic pathways, etc.)

Summary of the subject:
Bioinformatics as a science. The organization of living systems at the molecular level. Systems biology. The nature and complexity of the biological data interpretation. Bioinformatics database and tools for their analysis. Bioinformatics Tools. Methods of nucleotide and amino acid sequences alignment. The matrix of amino acid substitutions. Phylogeny. Computer design of gene networks. Bioinformatics as a way to accelerate the process of drug development.
