1. To be able to explain the features of the law, institutions, branches of Roman private law, their most common characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of such system; causes of reception of Roman private law by modern legal systems;
2. To be able to use the experience of legal regulation of private sphere of social relations in ancient Rome for current needs;
3. To be able to apply legal values formed by the Roman legal system in the Ukrainian state building;
4. To understand independent value of equal and democratic relations of citizens in the civil sphere of social relations, the leading role of the task of protecting universal values in its life, the importance of the principle of mutual distribution and control of power for society, the need for strict observance of the law, etc.
5. To be able to integrate knowledge of Roman private law with the knowledge acquired from the study of such subjects as History of state and law of foreign countries, the Theory of state and law;
6. To be able to share knowledge with the discipline in the study of civil law of Ukraine;
7. To able to apply gained knowledge in the process of reasoning, criticism, when writing journalistic and scientific works on historical and comparative- legal issues;
8. To be able to convince your opponent or interlocutor in the need to respect high legal consciousness and behavior, harm of legal nihilism.

Summary of discipline Academic discipline "Fundamentals of Roman private law" consists of the two parts. The first part concerns the subject, sources and importance of the study of Roman private law, historical background of the origin and the development of the main institutions of the Roman private law. The second part deals with the legal regulation of property and related non-property relations under Roman private law and specified main provisions of family, property, obligatory and of succession law in the time-spatial continuum of Rome.
