Learning outcomes:
• To know the theoretical foundations of design, especially industrial design, technical aesthetics and ergonomics. To navigate in the history of the development of artistic styles and their influence on the evolution of native forms.
• Know and understand the peculiarities of formation of products and equipment and the influence of the shape of technical objects on the person, know the properties and the quality of the composition in the technique.
• To know the intricacies of the designer-designer (design engineer) - information on light and color in industrial design: the psychological and physiological impact of color, influence of lighting on color, the calorimetric garment circles and combination of colors. Computer models RGB and CMYK color. Requirements and rules to apply color to the industrial equipment and technical products.
• Know the requirements for the composition of panels and control equipment, the requirements for alphanumeric and color-coding and placing of text and graphic information, to be able to arrange the buttons and switches, text and image information on the developed hardware.
• Know the basic requirements for the creation of corporate identity, logo, print ads, song, advertisement, illustration, design, and packaging design, recommendations for design of exhibitions, expositions and presentations of new products. Features of outdoor advertising, television and radio advertising, advertising in Internet.
• Create new equipment, using the acquired knowledge on the theory of industrial design-design of technical products, based on the norms and standards of ergonomics and technical aesthetics in General and basic guidelines, principles and methods of work of leading design firms and current trends in the industry.
• Know and apply existing computer CAD and CAD/CAM/CAE - systems for spatial design-design and modeling of the modern industrial equipment and products, know their main features advantages and disadvantages.
• Demonstrate the capacity and ability to use a computer graphics program (CorelDRAW, Photoshop) to design packaging and promotional products, design of graphic and text information of the company.

Summary of the subject:
Kinds of design. Theoretical concepts, basic principles, concepts, definitions, and specifics of design language. The optimal design tool — the computer. Hardware and software.
The origins of the design and shaping machines. The history of advertising graphics. Corporate identity – basic elements, functions and media. Computer technology in the design of the advertising graphics: packaging, logotipi, labels and pos materials.
Industrial design. Methods and means. The theory of the design. Methods of forming.
The theory of composition. The category of composition. Properties and qualities of the composition. Means of composition. Analysis of the composition of industrial products .
The colors in the technique. Color theory. The color of the product as an important tool of composition.
Ergonomics in design engineering. Ergonomics, the science about of adapting of tools and working conditions to humans. Anthropometric requirements of ergonomics to products and equipment. Hirotechnique as an applied discipline of ergonomics. .
Modern design of industrial equipment. Trends and prospects of formation . The analysis of patterns of evolution of the design of some household goods and equipment. Analysis of modern practices and developments of leading companies of industrial design. Bad design. Patenting of industrial design.
Computer technology in the design of products and equipment. Modern CAD computer-aided design. Solidworks — standard three-dimensional design and the perfect tool for the development of industrial design products and equipment. Computer-aided design KOMPAS-3D on the market CAD/CAM/PDM systems. Three-dimensional parametric modeling with AUTODESK MECHANICAL DESKTOP environment. Software for vector and raster graphics. Graphical editors are CorelDRAW and Photoshop.
