Learning outcomes:
As a result of studying the student should:
1. to know the basics of processing the results of experiments and methods of planning experiments;
2. to know the theoretical and methodological foundations of scientific research.
3. to know the methods of theoretical and experimental research, methodical and practical bases of scientific research results processing.
4. to know the basic requirements for the design of the results of the research work, especially the implementation of the results of the scientific work and the calculation of the effectiveness of the research work, the application of mathematical programming methods in optimization problems.
5. be able to build models of thermal processes and production systems.
6. be able to formulate and solve the problems of process optimization in thermal power plants.

- Prerequisites: Research project on the topic of master's qualification work; Specialty course in specialty research.
- co-requisites: - Special course on scientific research of a specialty; Educational research practice; Practice on the topic of master's qualification work.
Summary of the subject:
Introduction to experiment planning methods. Initial processing of experimental results. Statistical characteristics of measurement results. Statistical criteria. Mathematical processing of experimental results. Analysis of variance. Experiment planning. The stages and principles of the experiment. A full factorial experiment. Experiment Type 2k. Fractional factor experiment. Second-order plans. Orthogonal and rotatable second order plans. Analysis of nonlinear model. The canonical transformation. Simplex lattice planning. Operations planning. Optimization methods. Linear programming. Elements of nonlinear, dynamic and stochastic programming.
