Learning outcomes:
• knowledge of purpose, function and properties of relay protection and automation;
• knowledge of methods of building automation and protection devices, the basic principles of their implementation;
• knowledge of practical test methods and testing individual protection devices and automation;
• ability to choose the relay protection and automation for individual elements of the electric power system;
• ability to calculate the parameters of operation of simple elements of power system protection;
• ability to check the serviceability relay equipment.

Main types of power system automation.
