Learning outcomes:
knowledge of the basic categories, terms, concepts, and key theories of political science;
knowledge of the essence, attributes, and functions of the state, particularly in the energy sector;
understanding of the principles and attributes of energy policy in the world;
understanding of current trends and challenges in energy policy as well as the best practices in solving global energy problems;
ability to identify and analyse the main directions of energy policy of Ukraine and other states;
ability to apply the acquired theoretical knowledge for the assessment and analysis of national and global problems in energy sector.

Summary of the subject:
Introduction to the study of public policy. The policy sciences: past, present, and future. Concepts and theories of public policy. State theory and the rise of the regulatory state. Substantive policy areas. Energy and the industrialized world. International energy organizations: nuclear energy organizations?, renewable energy organizations?, petroleum and natural gas organizations?. Global energy and security. The role of markets and investment in global energy. Climate change, global climate governance, and energy choices. Policy for energy technology innovation. Best practices in the deployment of renewable energy. The EU’s climate and energy policies. China’s energy policy. Sustainable energy policy reform in Ukraine
