Learning outcomes:
• to know the working principle of nuclear reactors, including reactors VVER-1000;
• to know the working principle and construction of nuclear steam generators;
• able to read the thermal scheme of nuclear pressurized water reactors;
• able to operate the main and auxiliary equipment;
• able to analyze the technical condition of the equipment NPP.

Summary of the subject:
Nuclear reactions. The principle of operation and the main characteristics of a nuclear reactor. Nuclear fuel. Retarder of neutrons. The basic heat transfer fluids. Classification of nuclear reactors. Nuclear power plants with reactors RBMK and VVER. The working principle and construction of the reactor VVER-1000. Nuclear fuel for VVER-1000 reactor. Fast breeder reactors. Nuclear reactors as sources of heat energy. Equipment of reactor facility. Power capacitor. Turbines. Steam generators. Regulation power units with VVER. Schemes of power regulation units with VVER.
