Learning outcomes:
1 to have a knowledge of: general principles of building, strategy development and foundations of designing principles of local telephone networks with general use, and exploration with relevant terminology; generalized architecture, major functional subsystems and the range of additional services of digital switching systems; structure features of hardware and software and operation of digital switching systems.
2 skills: to predict and distribute all types of intensities telephone burden on local telephone networks; develop schemes of communication; synthesize digital switching fields for different structures and capacities; analyze the cost-effectiveness of switching fields according to selected criteria; conduct calculation of basic and remote switching equipment and development of the functional diagram of digital switching systems; algorithms of established telephone connections.
3 future conscious application of knowledge in the development, improvement and maintenance of digital switching systems.

Milestones switching systems. Generalized digital switching system architecture and its functional subsystems. Principles and trends of telephone networks. The structure and main directions of urban telephone networks. Structure of a digital national telephone network in Ukraine. Subscriber numbering systems for telephone networks. The rules on the extinction of telephone networks. Power switching of digital switching systems and their implementation. Features synthesis of digital switching fields DCS. The definition of complexity (cost) digital switching fields with different structures and capacity. Development one-section block diagram of digital switching fields like "Time". Multilink Principles of digital switching fields "Time-Space," "Time-Space-Time", "Time-Space-Space-Time." Evaluation of efficiency of synthesized fields. Organization of subscriber access to switching equipment supporting a digital switching system. Networking joints digital switching systems. Digital switching system 5ESS: General architecture and main technical parameters of the system. The functional block diagram integrated subscriber lines ISLU. Features of digital switching systems 5ESS. Acquisition and placing equipment reference system in automated hall.
