The Department was founded in 2002 as the Department of Ecology and Environmental Protection at the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technologies.
Since 2012, the Department has been renamed to the Department of Applied Ecology and Balanced Management of Nature at V. Chornovil Institute of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Tourism.
Since the day of foundation till the present time the Department has been headed by, Professor Myroslav Maliovanyi, Ph.D. 3 Sc.Ds, Professors and 17 Ph.Ds work at the Department. The Department operates a computer class, specialized research and training laboratories, research laboratory RL-113 which is accredited to carry out condition research of water, soil, chemicals and industrial wastes.
Bachelors are trained in Ecology, Environmental Protection and Balanced Management of Nature, Masters and Specialists in Ecology and Environmental Protection.
