International round table on virtual open space «Ukrainians of Africa: Horizons of Joint Growth»

The organizers – the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, and the Ukrainian Association of South Africa – together with partners, the Embassy of Ukraine to South Africa and the Ukrainian World Congress, invite you to a virtual open space «Ukrainians of Africa: Horizons of Joint Growth».

The International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations continues to study Ukrainian communities living abroad. This time, together with the Ukrainian Association of South Africa (initiated by its chairman Dzvinka Kachur), they conducted a unique survey of Ukrainians in the Republic of South Africa, the results of which will be presented to the public.

At the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn: what are the Ukrainians of South Africa like, how they integrate into a new society, how they preserve their identity, how they maintain relations with Ukraine and how they see their future. In the most interactive and intercontinental mode, you will learn about the experience of Ukrainians in South Africa, which would be useful for other young Ukrainian communities in different countries.

The organizers offer:

  • Presentation of a qualitative study of Ukrainians of South Africa.
  • Best practices from Ukrainians who build their community where it’s hard to even imagine.
  • The «discovery» of Africa in general and South Africa in particular as a place of residence for Ukrainians.
  • Panel discussion with invited guests, open discussion and networking.

The event will take place on November 19, 2020 on the Zoom platform (invitations will be sent to all registered the day before the event). Beginning at 16:00 Kyiv time.

Participation in the event is free subject to prior registration.

Registration will last until November 15, 2020. For more details write to iiec@miok.lviv.ua.
