The transformation of the infrastructure of Lviv Polytechnic National University into a barrier-free education environment is going on, and the inclusive education policy is being implemented to address a wide range of educational, informational and social needs of persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses.
The development of inclusive education services at the University is based on a regular needs assessment, primarily the needs of persons with disabilities, chronic illnesses and other special educational needs, including the needs of war veterans, combatants and their family members.
The ongoing support of the educational process of students with disabilities and chronic illnesses is provided by “No Limits” Services of Accessibility to Learning Opportunities, a subdivision of International «Integration» Centre for Professional Partnerships, with the University multidisciplinary group in inclusive education policy impleentation also involved.
The procedure of supporting persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses at Lviv Polytechnic envisages provision of the applicant with general information on the University resources and inclusive education services availability.
“No Limits” Accessibility Services perform the following steps:
Step 1. The student contacting “No Limits” Accessibility Services;
Step 2. Assessment of the students needs for full-fledged education;
Step 3. Assessment of the University resources to provide individual support;
Step 4. The Individual Support Plan development, with the University multidisciplinary group involved;
Step 5. Monitoring the implementation of the Individual Support Plan and introducing changes into it, as needed;
Step 6. Completion of the University studies by the student, with employment promotion provided.
