Not so long ago, Lviv Polytechnic National University signed an agreement on co-operation with the Chamber of Commerce of Erfurt. About a year ago, the intentions for co-operation were declared in a framework agreement. The co-operation strategy was determined in the new document – a German-Ukrainian Educational Centre for Colleges has been created in Lviv Polytechnic.

Professor Yuriy Bobalo, University Rector, and Professor Gerard Grusser, Erfurt Chamber of Commerce Director General, signed the agreement, which enshrined plans to educate Ukrainian college students together and give them an opportunity to receive double diplomas (Ukrainian and German).

It is the biggest one of the three Chambers of Commerce in Thüringen. It unites nearly a thousand of different enterprises of this federal state of Germany.

According to Roman Korzh, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, students of colleges, within the structure of our University, who have academic performance and are fluent in German, are given an opportunity of taking a three-month internship program at German enterprises (since the practical component in German colleges is much bigger), completing their studies in Ukraine and receiving diplomas of both countries. We can speak even about the current academic year: college students can still learn the subjects, which are necessary for a German diploma by the end of this academic year. They can undergo the internship in Germany and receive a German diploma after receiving the Ukrainian one. In future, second- and third-year students of Lviv Polytechnic colleges can participate in this project.

Travelling expenses, accommodation, a crush course of German and a monthly scholarship of 600–1000 euros are covered by our German partners.

Linguistic Educational Centre at the Institute of Administration and Postgraduate Education of Lviv Polytechnic will help students improve their German and issue certificates.

During their stay in Lviv, German delegation decided to make a private donation. Professor Gerard Grusser with his wife, Tomas Falbusch, who is responsible for the Educational Centre in Erfurt, and Tobias Kromholz, who is responsible for the project in Ukraine, donated 20,000 hrn to the educational rehabilitation centre «Dzherelo».
