Kingston University (London) and Lviv Polytechnic develop cooperation

At the end of May 2018, the professors of Kingston University paid several visits to Lviv Polytechnic within the Erasmus + KA1 program as the logical result of many years of cooperation between the project participants – Lviv Polytechnic National University, Lviv State University of Life Safety and Kingston University (London, Great Britain). Professors from the UK visited the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies, Institute of Economics and Management, Institute of Building and Environmental Engineering and the Institute of Engineering Mechanics and Transport. The discussion between the representatives of three universities took place at the department of General Physics of the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Fundamental Sciences.

On May 21, 2018, on the occasion of the end of the academic year, a final meeting of the participants of the Erasmus + project took place in Lviv Polytechnic. The event was attended by representatives of all tree higher education institutions. The project coordinator from Kingston University, Dr. Alan Flowers delivered a speech. He briefly summarized the results of the lecturer exchange program, showed appreciation to the project participants for their high level of training and outlined future prospects for cooperation.

The final study week for the students of the department of Automated Control Systems of the Institute of Computer Science and Information Technologies was full of interesting meetings, lectures and workshops. Within the Erasmus + project, the department was visited by Dr. Beryl Jones from Kingston University and Dr. Alan Flowers, the director of the Erasmus + program in Kingston University.

Dr. Alan Flowers told the students how to participate in the student mobility program, about peculiarities of studying at Kingston University and selection criteria. Dr. Beryl Jones lectured on Distributed Databases, Data Mining Technologies and conducted workshops on how to work with ORACLE databases.

Also there was an interesting scientific-pedagogical seminar for students and lecturers of Lviv Polytechnic, on which Dr. Jones spoke about approaches and modern technologies that help to make interaction between a lecturer and a student more interactive and productive.

Professor Beryl Jones also attended the Innovative Spring Forum, met the head of the Lviv Polytechnic StartUp School Professor Nazar Podolchak and few teams that work on their projects at Lviv Tech StartUp School. As a result of these meetings, was reached a cooperation agreement between students of Kingston University and Tech StartUp School of Lviv Polytechnic that provides involvement in their projects and presentation of their projects at Lviv Tech StartUp School.
