University offers free French courses with native speakers.

Polytechnicians have the opportunity to learn the language of one of the most romantic countries in the world. This was made possible by an agreement between our university and Alliance Française. As part of the Francophonie Year and the development of the French language in Ukraine, the Center for International Education at Polytechnic organized such a course.

These courses are for students and lecturers who do not speak French at all. The classes will be conducted by French lecturers, who are doing their internship at our university. All interested can attend the courses. Free classes will be held twice a week till the end of May, says Olena Fedorova, responsible for the French direction at the Center for International Education.

In addition to two groups for students and lecturers, another one is organized for those who already speak French.

Oksana Ivanytska, lecturer at the Department of Pedagogics and Social Management, tells why to attend the courses and shares her impressions from the first lesson:

There is a famous saying: As many languages you know, as many times you are a human being – this is the first reason. Secondly, I am a professional translator, so languages are important for me. In addition, I work with international partners, foreigners: French often come to Polytechnic and we have lots of cooperation agreements with France. Thus communication, even at a basic level, will contribute to our negotiations, the establishment of relations, signing of agreements, etc. The first lesson was great, but very difficult. Language is difficult, but our teacher explains properly. It should be noted that classes with native speakers are very expensive. It’s great that University gives us such a free opportunity.
