Recent events have reinforced the importance of social media in higher education. UniRank (formerly known as 4ICU), Australian higher education directory and search engine, has compiled several global university rankings based on their presence in social media. The latest of them is 2020 YouTube University Ranking.
The purpose of uniRank YouTube University Ranking is to determine the approximate popularity index of each university on the social media platform YouTube based on the total number of subscribers. This indicator is not intended to rank higher education institutions or their programs by the quality of education or the level of academic services provided.
The leaders of the ranking among Ukrainian universities are not the most popular higher education institutions. They are: Tavria State Agrotechnical University (Melitopol, 5340 subscribers), Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics (3130) and Ternopil National University of Economics (3060). Lviv Polytechnic National University is ranked 20th with 1,000 subscribers. In total there are 128 Ukrainian universities on the list.
