All about the beginning of the academic year at Lviv Polytechnic

YURII BOBALO, RECTOR OF LVIV POLYTECHNIC

Dear students!

I am glad to see you soon. Although the academic year will start unusually: because of quarantine measures, unfortunately, one of the biggest holidays of Lviv Polytechnic – the traditional dedication of freshmen to students – will not take place. However, everyone who joins Polytechnic family will have a special meeting – Freshman Day.

The training of bachelor’s freshmen will begin on October 1, and the form of education will depend on the epidemic situation in Lviv.

If the level of epidemic danger in our city is «green» or «yellow», then full-time freshmen will study in classrooms.

But if we are in the «orange» zone, then practical and laboratory classes will take place in classrooms, and lectures – in the form of video conferences. If the discipline is studied by only one group of students, the lecture can take place in a classroom.

Of course, if the quarantine is strengthened and Lviv is in the «red» epidemiological zone, we will be forced to conduct all classes online.

Training for second- and fourth-year bachelors and masters will begin on September 28. If the level of epidemic danger is «green», «yellow» or «orange», practical and laboratory classes for these students will be held in classrooms, and lectures – online.

If practical or laboratory classes do not require the use of special technical equipment, they can be conducted in the form of video conference. Provided that the discipline is studied by only one group, lectures can take place at the university classrooms.

If the quarantine is strengthened and Lviv is in the «red» epidemiological zone, we will be forced to conduct all classes online.

I hope that soon we will all return to the usual form of education and you will plunge into student life, filled with interesting meetings, communication with friends, unforgettable experiences, and your noise and laughter will revive the university corridors.

I wish everyone success and good health!
