Memorandum of Understanding between the Israel-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Lviv Regional State Administration, Lviv City Council, Lviv Polytechnic National University and SID City Science Park was signed on June 23. It promises new perspectives and cooperation, the results of which will have an important impact on the development of education quality and the creation of startups. Joining efforts of Tel Aviv, Kyiv and Lviv was discussed at the Zoom conference.
– The purpose of this memorandum is the development of innovations and startups at international level. The projects will be implemented in the newly created SID City Science Park and to do this, we plan to attract the best researchers and students of Lviv Polytechnic. Of course, the support of the regional authorities is important for the projects implementation. The Israeli experience and financial opportunities will also be extremely valuable, said Nazarii Podolchak, Director of SID City Science Park.
Ivan Sobko, Deputy Head of LRSA, noted that Lviv Region especially appreciates that Lviv Polytechnic creates new opportunities for quality higher education, takes over the foreign experience due to internships in different countries and helps to implement best practices and methods. The official paid special attention to the role of the memorandum, which is an important step for the further development of science.
– Involving partners, friends and colleagues from other countries, we learn and share experience. The Regional State Administration is always ready to financially and methodically assist in the implementation of joint projects which would bring benefits to the Lviv region and the whole of Ukraine, underlined Deputy Head of LRSA.
It should be noted that the memorandum provides for the creation of the Ukrainian-Israeli Innovation Showroom. As well as support for the creation of new innovative firms and companies that will contribute to the economy of Lviv region.
– We saw potential in Lviv Polytechnic. The development of IT technologies deserves special attention. We hope that the signing of this document will lead to fruitful cooperation in the future, said during the online communication Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Israel to Ukraine Joel Lyon.
Under the agreement all parties will work on joint projects to develop innovations, including: Asolution Hub and Startera, exchange of specialists for training, research, seminars and consultations, organization of exchange of experience and information on the implementation and development of startups and investment attraction.
In addition, the signing of the document aims to strengthen the scientific position of Lviv Polytechnic in the world.
Yevhenii Shulhin, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, the Israel-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed:
– It is an honor for me to be involved in this event, because this memorandum guarantees that we will have new cooperation, new prospects. The events, we are experiencing now, show that our civilization has reached one of the turning points. Therefore, interaction between countries should take place at the level of technopolises and regions. Today, special attention must be paid to the new format of education, security in general and cybersecurity in particular.
Rector of Lviv Polytechnic Yurii Bobalo stressed that the importance of this memorandum is that cooperation will not only open new perspectives for Lviv Polytechnic researchers, but also help train high-quality specialists in Ukraine. The main advantage is that young people will be involved in the implementation of these agreements.
