By March 2016 Lviv Polytechnic National University has 20 specialized academic councils for the thesis defense in 45 specialties, including 15 specialized academic councils — for getting the Doctor of Science degree in 38 specialties.
The members of the specialized academic councils are leading Doctors of Science, university professors who are heading well-known scientific schools and scholars of other higher educational institutions, institutes of NAS of Ukraine and others.
