Learning outcomes:
• Availability of deep grounded knowledge in the field of environmental biotechnology; a detailed understanding of the processes occurring in ecosystems under conditions of sustainable development and man-made stress; principles of solving environmental problems by biotechnological methods.
• Knowledge of the current state, principles and principles of environmental, biological safety in relation to biological objects of the environment at the international, interstate, state and regional levels.
• Demonstrate scientific perspectives in assessing the impact on living systems and biological diversity of biotic and abiotic factors of local and global origin.
• Ability to independently carry out experimental research and to apply research skills, as well as to make decisions and develop a strategy for solving scientific and applied problems taking into account common human values, public, state and industrial interests.
• Ability to describe patterns of flow, distribution and migration of man-made pollutants in specific ecosystems.
Required prior and related subjects:
• Innovative technologies for the utilization of industrial and household waste;
• Scientific basics of simulations and prognostification of the environment.
Summary of the subject:
Development and scope of biotechnology. Methods of object preparation Characteristics of biotechnological processes. Differences and commonality between biotechnological and chemical-technological processes. Biomonitoring system. Bioindication and biotesting of the environment. Classification of pollution. Types of wastewater biosystems. Aerobic sewage treatment methods. Anaerobic sewage treatment methods. Specificity of bio-purification complexes of production. Wastewater treatment with biofilters, filtration fields. Advances in environmental biotechnology.Environmental biotechnology. The development and the application of biotechnology.
