Learning outcomes:
- to know the classification of automatic control and control systems, circuit diagrams and principle of operation of these systems;
- to know the functions of the elements of automatic control and control systems;
- to know the basic methods and instruments for measuring technological parameters, as well as methods for calculating errors for measuring technological parameters;
- know the properties of control plant, their static and dynamic characteristics;
- to know the classification of automatic regulators according to the laws of regulation, the structure and principles of operation of regulators, their properties, static and dynamic characteristics;
- to know the structure of modern microprocessor-based production automation tools;
- be able to construct structural diagrams of systems for automatic measurement of specific technological parameters and to choose measuring instruments with the necessary technical and metrological characteristics for their implementation in process control systems related to the processing, production and testing of metallic, non-metallic, composite and nanomaterials, including their products basis;

Summary of the subject:
Basic concepts about automation. Automatic measurement of process parameters. Schemes of automatic measurement, signaling ‚protection, locking, remote control, regulation. Principles of regulation. Measurement of pressure, temperature, flow rate and quantity of substance, level of liquids and bulk materials. Elements of the theory of automatic control. Automatic regulators. Construction of functional schemes of automation of typical technological processes. Multilevel process control systems. Automation of typical technological processes.
