Summary of the subject:
Introduction. Earths Shape. Historical Evolution of Ellipsoidal Shape. Coordinate Systems in Geodesy.
Representations of the sphere and the ellipsoid. Various latitude types. Relationships between different types of latitude. Co-ordinates in the meridional ellipse.
Radii of curvature on the Ellipsoid (in the meridian and in the Prime Vertical).
Meridian arc lengths. Length of a Parallel Arc. Calculation of Areas on the Surface of an Ellipsoid.
A curve in space. Curves on the Surface of the Ellipsoid. Normal Sections. The geodesic curve. Geometric reduction of Measured Directions or Azimuths.
Solution of Spherical and Ellipsoidal Triangles. Calculation of Geodetic Coordinates. The direct problem. The inverse Solution. Differential Formulas of the First and Second type.
