Learning outcomes:
• to know: basic concepts of the theory of civil society; features of interaction between the state and public sector; characteristics of the community, types and structure of communities; stages and models of community development; methods of interventionin community development; sociological methods of collecting and analyzing in formation in the research of community.
• •to be ableto: use basic principles, technologies, methods in the sociological research of communities;exercise intervention in community development based on the principles of ethical intervention; to mobilize community development through participation.

Summary of the subject:
Civil society and the state. Power and power relationsin іn the community. The community as a specific social group. The concept of community. The role of the public sector in the society. Types of communities. Motivation of public activity. Community development. Approaches to community development: intervention or self-development. Concept of development through participation. Research by participation.
