Ukrainians in the Issyk-Kul region: University held a meeting with the chairman of the Ukrainian Community Council of the Kyrgyz Republic

On Wednesday, May 16, 2018, the assembly hall of the main building of Lviv Polytechnic National University held a meeting with Volodymyr Narozia, the chairman of the Ukrainian Community Council of the Kyrgyz Republic «Berehynia». The organizers of the event are the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, the Scientific and Technical Library and Prosvita National House at Lviv Polytechnic.

Before the event, the first vice-rector of University, Professor Volodymyr Pavlysh, the vice-rector on Scientific and Pedagogical Work Oleh Davydchak, and the head of the Center for International Education, Nataliia Hotz discussed with the official representatives of the embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine the ways of international cooperation between the institutions.

The advisor of the Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic in Ukraine, Merimbek Apishev, expressed gratitude to the Polytechnicians for the opportunity to discuss topical issues of international cooperation of Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan, paying special attention to the cultural component.

For over three decades, the Ukrainian diaspora in Kyrgyzstan has been headed by Volodymyr Narozia. He told a large audience, mostly students, about history and modern day life of Ukrainians in distant Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the participants were able to enjoy unusual for Europeans authentic Kyrgyz culture. The performance of Mariya Naumova, the orchestra girl, a student of the American University of Central Asia (Bishkek), impressed everybody. She performed Kyrgyz folk melodies, and demonstrated Kyrgyz folk dances.

Cultural explosion can be called the performance of one of the most famous performers of the ancient epic of Manas, the president of the International Association of Manasologists Talantaaly Bakchiev. His declamation of the passage from the Kyrgyz epic, namely Testament of Kanikey before the Manas campaign in China was amazing.

At the end of the event, a closing speech was given by the director of the IECDR, candidate of pedagogical sciences, assistant professor Iryna Kliuchkovska. She emphasized the importance of learning the culture of peoples, among whom live Ukrainians.
