From January 15, Lviv Polytechnic held trainings for the University staff organized by the newly created Department of Personnel Training and Development.
– These trainings absolutely fit the Polytechnic strategy. As we live in an extremely changing environment that produces a lot of new information, we have to work in quite stressful situations. Therefore, we need to be able to quickly adapt to changes as well as implement them in our environment. We also need to devote a great deal of time and attention to the study of educational services that are in demand today. We need to know what the European and global education markets offer to understand what competitive advantages we have. Good equipment, material resources without human will not produce the desired result. Therefore, in such a large university like Lviv Polytechnic, special attention should be paid to the proper selection of personnel, emphasized the Head of the Department of Personnel Training and Development Nadiia Liubomudrova.
If, a few decades ago, there was a tendency to receive education once in a lifetime and then only to develop professionally, today it is the matter of lifelong learning.
– The constant development of something new for many people has become a lifestyle. And we need to adapt to that. There are a lot of innovations in science and the worldview has been changing – today it is not about only taking care of yourself, but understanding that everyone is a part of the world, team and environment. That is, we must be mutually responsible. That is why we have to learn not just to perform a specific task, but to cooperate in a certain group of people, to try to understand how useful we are for the team, the structure where we work, so it is the question of meaning and values, added Mz. Liubomudrova.
One of the tasks of the Department of Personnel Training and Development is to help people discover the skills they need, to solve various problems together. Also, attending trainings that will be organized will be an opportunity to exchange positive experience between the employees of different structural units.
– We set ourselves a task to involve people in the Polytechnic community. Everyone has to understand: we work in one direction and share common values and goals, emphasized the Head of the Department of Personnel Training and Development.
Emotional intelligence will be given particular attention during the trainings. After all, as my interlocutor noted, our efficiency depends on our emotional state.
– It is important that people understand their place in the team. Until recently, employees were simply perceived as executives. But we need to support each other. So together we will create in Polytechnic an environment that is comfortable and interesting to work in. This will have a positive effect on the Polytechnic image. It is important people understand that to be a Polytechnician is already a value. This understanding must be formed in people, said Nadiia Liubomudrova.
The values, declared in the University’s strategy, are the desire for change, that is the constant development within one’s profession.
– Most of the responsibility for creating the energy of change should be taken by the Directors of Structural Units and Heads of the Departments. People will feel the need for change. We are prepared for the fact that somebody will not accept changes, and this is a normal physiological reaction of our brain: we are afraid of something unknown. Therefore, people need to adjust to changes, to the realization that mistakes are not terrible, they broaden our experience, says Mz. Liubomudrova.
In its activities, the Department of Personnel Training and Development will be guided by the principles of andragogy, which aims to promote the development and realization of personal integrity.
– When people work in one place for a long time, there emerges an inertia effect and people do not feel the need to develop. We will try to expand the opportunities and open up new facets of work. In the global trends in HR-management there is a concept of diversity, efficiency from diversity. This is the diversity of views, visions and problems solving that contribute to the comprehensive development of both academics and students, said the Head of the Department of Personnel Training and Development.
