On July 1, 2020, the staff of the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University, met with the leadership of the European Congress of Ukrainians (ECU).
Guests from abroad were Bohdan Rajčinec (Czech Republic), President of the European Congress of Ukrainians, and Victor Bandurchin (Slovakia), Secretary of the ECU and Deputy Chairman of the Union of Ruthenian-Ukrainians of the Slovak Republic.
Bohdan Rajčinec expressed the desire to intensify work, in particular on issues of migration and integration of Ukrainians in European countries. «This is an eternal issue that we are working on,» the ECU President stressed.
Iryna Kliuchkovska, Director of IECDR, stressed that the Institute was among the first institutions to pay attention and start researching migration issues. «We have been doing this since the powerful wave of migration in the 1990s, then there were transnational families and social orphanhood. Today, the focus of the Institute is, in particular, modern labour migration,» said Director of IECDR.
Victor Bandurchin joined the online meeting, highlighting the specifics of the public work of Ukrainians in Slovakia.
The main purpose of the discussion was to outline the most promising areas for further cooperation and identify further steps for the implementation of joint projects.
