The Annual Meeting of the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations took place online on November 1, 2020. Delegates from constituent organizations from 25 countries, honorary guests, including Kateryna Levchenko, the Government Commissioner for Gender Equality Policy, Iryna Kliuchkovska and Oksana Piatkovska, who represented the International Institute of Education, Culture and Diaspora Relations, Lviv Polytechnic National University – a partner of WFUWO, participated in the event.
Bishop Stepan Sus, Head of the Pastoral and Migration Department of the UGCC, Paul Grod, President of the Ukrainian World Congress, and Nataliia Fedorovych, Head of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, made welcome speeches. On behalf of Lviv Polytechnic, its Rector, Professor Yurii Bobalo, and IECDR, Iryna Kliuchkovska greeted the participants of the event, emphasizing the viability of the organization, which under any circumstances does not stop its work and activity. The strength of WFUWO is, first of all, its people who take responsibility for decision-making; it is the ability to respond to new challenges, to be flexible and courageous at the same time, said the Director of IECDR, emphasizing the role of the organization’s leader Anna Kisil, who led the organization in this difficult for humanity time, being able to mobilize effective women.
Words of gratitude were addressed to Lviv Polytechnic and IECDR, which was not only the main organizer of one of the WFUWO largest events – the International Assembly «Ukrainian Women in the World: Professionalism, Activism and Tradition», which took place in 2019 at Lviv Polytechnic National University, but has been a partner in the implementation of numerous joint projects, including Marusia Beck Literary Competition. It should be noted that the lion’s share of work on the organization of the competition was carried out by IECDR employees Nataliia Martynyshyn, Oksana Halaichuk, Ihor Kalynets and Iryna Ukrainska. The award ceremony will take place later.
IECDR expressed readiness to continue to support the initiatives of WFUWO and to cooperate in the framework of ongoing projects, as well as to develop new areas of cooperation.
