International Research Cooperation

During the last five years the researchers of Lviv Polytechnic have implemented over 30 grants and projects, received for research work from foreign institutions and within European programs, more than 40 economic contracts on the order of foreign companies and institutions, and more than 20 joint research projects within the framework of international agreements.

The collaboration is set with scientific and research institutions, industrial and marketing companies of Austria (company Alcatel-Lucent Austria AG), Germany (corporation DIG Berlin GmbH R&D Laboratory, Synchrotron Laboratory HASYLAB), Poland (ABB Corpotate Research Centre), Slovakia (concern HEFRA), USA (International Centre for Difraction Data (ICDD), PPG Industries INC.), France (concern Schneider Electric), Taiwan (Taiwan Textile Research Institute).

About 100 agreements on scientific and research cooperation, education and methodical collaboration are signed with more than 70 leading higher education establishments in Europe, USA and Asia.

Lviv Polytechnic's Developments on Foreign Market:

  • flexible super capacitor jointly elaborated with Taiwan Textile Research Institute (this development is recognized as one of the top 100 scientific and research developments in the world in 2011 according to the famous American IBM Journal of Research and Developments (2011 R&D 100 Awards));
  • 3D magnetometer;
  • the methods for constructing regional spatial inventories of main greenhouse gas emissions in industry and construction;
  • mathematical and software tools for development of the regional spatial inventories of greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial sector, developed in collaboration with the scientists from International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Laxenburg, Austria);
  • the biometric protection system against unauthorized excess to telecommunication networks Tserber (Cerberus) used in Korea and Poland;
  • Technical Committee for Scientific and Technical Terminology Standardization (TC STTS) of Lviv Polytechnic National University (full member of International Committees on Terminology ISO (International Standards Organization) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)) has developed international standards GOST 8.586.1, 2, 3, 4, 5 – 2005, which are recommended for general use in all CIS countries.
