Learning outcomes:
Use the conceptual apparatus of sociology in educational, research and other areas of professional activity.
Understand the history of sociology, its modern concepts and theories, the main problems.
Apply the provisions of sociological theories and concepts to the study of social change in Ukraine and the world.
Explain the patterns and features of development and functioning of social phenomena in the context of professional tasks.
Fluent in state and foreign / foreign languages orally and in writing on professional matters.
Be able to use information and communication technologies in the process of searching, collecting and analyzing sociological information.
To substantiate one's own position, to make and argue independent conclusions based on the results of research and analysis of professional literature.
Be able to develop a program of sociological research.
Have the skills to collect social information using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Present the results of their own research to professionals and non-specialists.
Know and adhere to the ethical norms of professional activity of a sociologist.
Conceptual scientific and practical knowledge.
Critical understanding of theories, principles, methods and concepts in the field of professional activity and / or training.
In-depth cognitive and practical skills, mastery and innovation at the level required to solve complex specialized tasks and practical problems in the field of professional activity or training.

Summary of the subject:
Sociology in the system of social sciences. Object and subject of sociology. The system of sociological knowledge and its elements. Sociology as a polyparadigmatic science. Functions of sociology. The main areas of application of sociological knowledge. Code of ethics of a sociologist. The concept of sociological research and its types. Specifics of empirical sociological research. Empirical research program. Basic methods of specific sociological research. The main stages of development of sociological knowledge: protosociology, academic and modern stages. Formation and stages of development of sociological thought in Ukraine. Sociological centers of modern Ukraine. Sociology in the modern world: current areas of research. Society as a whole system. The essence and factors of social change. Personality in the system of social relations. Socialization. Social structure of society and tendencies of its dynamics. Social stratification. The essence and specifics of ethnic communities. Ukrainian modern nation: features of its formation and current characteristics. The process and types of social interaction. Social control and deviant behavior. Social institutions, their role in society and problems of dynamics. Social organizations: essence, typology, functions. Culture as a social phenomenon. Dynamics of culture: changing the content of the components of culture, its forms and types. Types of interaction of cultures. Culture as a core of crystallization of the modern Ukrainian nation.
