Learning outcomes:
After completing a course, a specialist must know:
• basic principles of life safety fundamentals;
• impact of human psychophysiological characteristics upon the formation of his/her safety;
• methods of detecting harmful and dangerous factors;
• normalization of harmful and dangerous factors of the environment that adversely affect human health;
• types of psycho-emotional stress and how to cope with them.
• laws and regulations on personal and social safety measures.
A specialist must be able to:
• determine the level of risks, detect, analyze and assess the environment in terms of personal and social safety;
• make independent decisions on taking immediate actions in case of emergencies;
• ensure personal safety in emergency situations;
• develop and implement a system of measures aimed at preserving human health and its harmonious development;
• evaluate the negative factors of the environment and identify the ways to eliminate their effect on humans;
• administer first aid in emergency situations to themselves and other victims

The concept of danger and risk. The concept of acceptable risk. Methodological approaches to risk
The classification of dangerous natural processes and phenomena.
Characteristics and effects of natural threats. Geologically hazards. Meteorological hazards. Hydrological hazards. Wildfires. Biological hazards. Natural hazards due to pollution.
Classification and negative factors characteristic of man-made environment. Transport accident (accident). Fire safety. Protective measures.
Radiation safety. Measures of protection against radiation. Biological effects of ionizing radiation. Symptoms of radiation injury.
The chemical safety. Measures of protection from dangerous chemicals
Psychological and social foundations of human security.
Behavioral reactions of the population in emergency situations
First aid in case of accidents.
Role provided timely and properly carried out first aid in saving the lives and health of the victim.
