Computer Tools for Mathematical Modeling

Major: Applied Mathematics
Code of Subject: 6.113.01.E.72
Credits: 3
Department: Applied Mathematics
Lecturer: PhD, associate professor Pizyur Ya. V.
Semester: 5 семестр
Mode of Study: денна
Learning outcomes:
• know the basic features of software packages that are used to build mathematical models;
• be able to apply the functionality of packages to construct mathematical models (equations and systems of algebraic or differential equations), to choose a method of solving and to apply it for finding a solution.
Required prior and related subjects:
• Calculus, Algebra and Geometry, Differential Equations, Programming;
• Numerical Methods. P. 1 and P. 2, Mathematical Modeling and System Analysis, Mathematical Statistics.
Summary of the subject:
Using the functionality of Maple and Scilab software packages to solve algebraic equations and systems, approximate functions and experimental data, calculate integrals, find Cauchy and boundary-value solutions for ordinary differential equations, visualize the obtained results.
Recommended Books:
• Малачівський П. С.
Р. Алексеев, О.В.Чеснокова, Е. А.Рудченко.– М. : ALT Linux ; БИНОМ. Лаборатория знаний, 2008.– 260 с.
• Дьяконов В. П. MATLAB. Полный самоучитель. – М.: ДМК Пресс, 2012. – 768 с.
