Learning outcomes:
• to understand the purpose and place of the Engineering and Design Graphics Course in the general education program in design;
• to understand the regularities and methods of the creation of a solid two-dimensional and three-dimensional object, with due regard to the peculiarities of the visual perception of an object shape;
• to know the main rules of the graphic presentation of design documentation
• to know the rules of graphical projection, the production of a two-dimensional image of a three-dimensional object;
• to know the following professional designer’s categories: a design image, professional design terms used in developing a graphic image, methods of searching the ideas related to the expression of an object’s outer and inner shape;
• to know how to apply graphic techniques;
• be able to choose the most appropriate methods of solving the tasks of a specific project and the most appropriate graphic option.

Prerequisites: Colour Studies; Fundamentals of Composition and Formativeness

Summary of the subject:
Techniques of performing and reading drawings. Rules of the preparation of design documentation. Geometric constructions in drawings. Projection drawing. Drawing in the rectangular projection system. Visual images of objects. Construction drawings and applicable requirements. Graphic means of the forming of compositions. Types of linear graphic objects and the peculiarities of their combination. Spot as a mean of forming a composition. Types and techniques of colour (hue) graphics. Graphic imitation of textures and finishes. Means of the composition of graphic objects. Colour as a graphic mean of forming a composition. Materials and polychrome techniques in designs.
