Learning outcomes:
As a result of studying the discipline “Methods and Means for Measurement of Electrical Quantities” the students:
• should know the role, place and importance of measurement of electrical quantities in the structure of modern technologies; the structure of metrological system of Ukraine and its task of ensuring the uniformity of electrical quantities measurements in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Metrology and Metrological Activity”; main principles and terms of metrology and measurement of electrical quantities; the units of electrical quantities, their reproducing and keeping, standards of electrical quantities; modern methods of measurement of electrical quantities and operating procedures of their realization; modern methods of measurement of non-electrical quantities by electrical methods; modern types of electrical quantities measuring means, their metrological characteristics and perspectives of their development; method of processing the experimental data of measurements of electrical and non-electrical quantities to obtain the measurement result; methods of evaluating the accuracy of measurement results of electrical and non-electrical quantities based on the theory of uncertainty in measurements;
• must be able to analyze the conditions of measurement of given electrical quantity and choose a method of measurement, measuring circuit and necessary means of measurement according to the conditions of experiment; to make electrical circle according to the diagram and carry out measuring experiment; to perform the measuring experiment for measurement of the certain electrical quantity; to process the experimental data to obtain the result of measurement with the estimation of its uncertainty; to evaluate the accuracy of measurement results based on the theory of uncertainty in measurements; to make the measuring experiment for measurement of certain non-electrical quantity by electrical method and obtain a result of measurement.

Summary of the subject:
The concept of measurement and measuring information. The structure of measuring process. Measuring signal and its transformation in the process of measurement. The structure of measuring task. Results of measurement and estimations of the measurement accuracy. Types of measurements: direct, indirect, cumulative compatible. Measurement equation. Principle, method, algorithm and procedure of measurement. Measuring means: measures of quantities; measuring transducers; analogue and digital measuring instruments; measuring equipment; measuring channels; measuring information systems. Methods and means for measurement of electrical quantities: current and voltage of DC and AC; power and energy of DC and AC; measurement of resistance, current phase angle, frequency and time intervals; measurement of insulation resistance and electrical resistance grounding; measurement of parameters of the alternating current circuits elements. Methods and means of measurement based on concurrent comparison with a measure. DC and AC bridges. DC and AC compensators. Methods and means for measurement of non-electrical values by electrical methods. Measuring transducers of non-electrical quantities. Measurement of temperature by contact electrical thermometers. Measurement of forces, mechanical stresses and deformations by electrical methods. General information about magnetic measurements. Measuring transducers of magnetic quantities. Methods and means for determining of dynamic characteristics of ferromagnetic. Measurement of magnetic flow. Measurement of magnetic induction and magnetic field strength. Perspective directions of development of methods and tools for measurement of electrical, magnetic and non-electrical quantities.

Assessment methods and criteria:
There are such methods of diagnosis and assessment in the process of teaching discipline “Methods and Means for for Measurement of Electrical Quantities”:
• current control of students knowledge – 30 %:
a) during lectures;
b) during practical classes;
c) during laboratory classes;
d) during tests;
e) during checking works;
• during of semester exam – 70% (control task - 60%; oral component - 10%).
