Learning outcomes:
- ability to demonstrate the knowledge and understanding of the place of the discipline in the training of spesialist in international relations and the features of the process of their training at Lviv National Polytechnic University;
- knowledge of the main issues of national standards of training of international affairs specialists , the specific of their activity in both public and private institutions, business organizations, media, etc;
- knowledge and ability to define basic concepts and categories in the sphere of international relations, mainly concepts of “international relations”, “foreign policy”, “international system”, “integration”, “international conflicts”, “globalization”, etc.;
- ability to point out types and structural elements of the system of international relations;
- knowledge of the main participants of international relations, their pupposes, interests and means, ability to evaluate the role of state and non-state actors in international relations;
- understanding of the nature of conflicts and the main directions of cooperation in international relations;
- knowledge of main types of international order and the peculiarities of its transformation in the context of globalization;
- ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of globalization and global challenges as factors of strengthening of international actors’ cooperation;
- ability to identify and analyze problems of international relations and to analyse specificity of formation of the modern system of international relations and to determine the place of Ukraine in it.

Summary of the subject:
The specialist in international relations: areas of activity and specifics of training. Conceptual and categorical apparatus of specialist in international relations. The structure and methodology of international relations researches. International relations as a social phenomenon: the main features. Types and levels of international relations. The international system: nature, structure and types. Peculiarities of transformation of international system. Subjects of international relations: nature and types. State and non-state actors in the international relations. Foreign policy: nature, principles of implementation. Correlation of domestic and foreign policy. Interest in the international relations. Interconnection of interests, motives and goals of international actors. International and national interest, their correlation. Means of international actors. Force as a means, an attribute of international actors. The essence, appearance and forms of diplomatic activities. Conflicts in international relations. Characteristics of international conflicts and ways of their settlement. Cooperation in international relations: essence and forms. Types of international cooperation and international integration. International order and formation of the modern global world order. Globalization. Global challenges of our time and their solutions.
