Learning outcomes:
• understanding of the Smart Grid concept;
• knowledge of characteristic features and states of the Smart Grids;
• knowledge of basic principles of controlled power conversion in the systems of electricity consumption;
• ability to develop and analyze circuits of power systems;
• ability to analyze key parameters of distributed generation sources, assess feasibility and technical effectiveness of their implementation in power systems.

Summary of the subject:
Trends of modern power systems and the concept of intelligent power system (Smart Grid). Specifications of distributed generation and their role in shaping the intelligent power system. Principles of intelligent monitoring and supervisory control in the power system. Concept and application of FACTS devices. Their role in the implementation of the basic requirements of intelligent power system. Means of normalization of electricity consumption in intelligent power systems.
