Summary of the subject:
Programming in geoscience is the model and algorithm underlying GIS. Software for implementation, integration of data and technologies are considered. The monograph contains graphic illustrations explaining the work of GIS. The essence of geoinformation, geoinformation technologies, conceptual apparatus of geoinformation systems (GIS) and their functionality are formulated. Issues of data entry and digitization are considered. The issues of creating and storing electronic maps using geoinformation technologies are covered. The conceptual bases of GIS, the purpose and principles of GIS construction, modern directions of GIS application and development prospects are presented.
