Statistics and Mathematical Modeling in Geosciences

Major: Geodesy and Land Management
Code of Subject: 8.193.00.M.31
Credits: 3
Department: Cartography and Geospatial Modelling
Lecturer: Professor Petro Zazuliak
Semester: 4 семестр
Mode of Study: денна
Learning outcomes:
• By measuring results, be able to form interval statistical series and present them in the form of histograms.
• Be able to find the necessary statistical characteristics of the measurement results and draw some conclusions.
• Be able to build confidence intervals for estimating statistical characteristics.
• Be able to conduct correlation analysis of measurement results.
• According to the measurement results, carry out their approximation with different analytical functions.
• Perform a harmonious analysis of the results of observations.
Required prior and related subjects:
• Higher Mathematics,
• Mathematical Processing of Geodetic Measurements.
• Analytical and Numerical Research Methods.
Summary of the subject:
Within the discipline are considered the questions of statistical analysis of measurement results, namely, calculation of statistical characteristics, correlation, one-factor and two-factor analysis of variance, as well as the approximation of measurement results by different analytical expressions.
