Learning outcomes:
- to know the tendencies of development of technical means for measurement of technological parameters of food and processing industry; methods of measuring technological parameters of food and processing industry; principles of construction of devices for measuring technological parameters of food and processing industry; basic types of standard primary converters and secondary devices for measuring technological parameters of the food and processing industry;
- be able to choose the method of measurement of a specific technological parameter, the device that implements this method, as well as the limits of measurement of the device and its other metrological characteristics; to calculate the parameters of the devices for partitioning into a new measuring range; to develop non-standard primary converters for measuring technological parameters of food and processing industry; diagnose the suitability and metrological reliability of devices and systems for automatic control of the food and processing industry.

Summary of the subject:
Characterization of technological processes of food and processing industry in terms of application of special control and measuring devices and systems. Features of the system of automatic control of technological parameters of food and processing industry. Special methods and instruments for temperature measurement. Methods of temperature measurement in technological processes of chemical industry by contact and non-contact methods, measurement errors, methods for their accounting and reduction; rules for installing thermoconverters during measurement. Measurement of thermal values. Calorimeters for solids, liquids and gases. Heat meters and heat meters. Special methods and instruments for measuring the amount and consumption of liquids, gases and vapors. Special methods and instruments for measuring the amount and consumption of bulk materials. Flowmeters of bulk materials, conveyor scales. Measuring the level of liquid materials. Special methods and instruments for measuring the level of dust and fine-grained materials. Special methods and devices for automatic concentration measurement of liquid and gas mixtures. Gas analysis in food and processing industry. Gas chromatographs.
