Learning outcomes:
• Ability to apply the knowledge of the theoretical basics of information technologies development and usage in linguistics; computer architecture and main principles of computer operation; classification and basic characteristics of computer hardware and software; combination of different types of information inside the computer; theoretical basics of human and modern software interaction.
• Ability to apply knowledge of technical and software means of information processes realization; main areas of computer linguistics.
• Ability to use operational systems (Windows, Unix, etc.), system software, most widespread software packages, information portals of the Internet, computer information processing skills.
• Mastering individual or group (laboratory work and leadership) work skills, ability to obtain results within the time limits with the emphasis on preventing plagiarism.

• Prerequisites: Informatics (Secondary School)
• Co-requisites: Corpus Linguistics, Computer Lexicography
Summary of the subject:
General knowledge of information technologies in linguistics. General understanding of computer operation. Types of computer users. Components of computer hardware from the functional perspective. Software content and structure. Software typology. Basic principles of operating systems. Information storage file systems. Viruses and computer crime. Internal display of numerical information. II content module Internal display of textual information. Symbols coding tables. Computer fonts. Internal display of graphic information. Text processing software packages. Graphic information processing software packages. Table processors. Programs math packages. Mathware.
