Learning outcomes:
As a result of а discipline study, the student must be able to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
Identify patterns of Japanese social behavior; identify patterns of formal and informal language usage during the academic, business and personal communication; be able to translate, using Ukrainian language means, benefactive and passive constructions; Know the characteristics of the social structure of Japanese society and communication rules associated with it; be able to interpret and translate idioms and phraseological units, reflecting the realities of Japanese life, history, social relations; know the characteristics of Japanese communication with foreigners; to understand the manners, customs, art, religious items of Shinto and Buddhism.

Prerequisites: “Modern Japanese” Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4
Corequisites: “Modern Japanese” Part 5; “Stylistics of Modern Japanese” Part 1
Summary of the subject:
Society and language of modern Japan. Historical background. Hierarchy. Formal Language: varieties of polite language. The informal language. Strategy of rudeness. Brutality. The problem of interpretation and translation of phraseological units, related to social orders in Japan and Japanese life. Translation of scientific and journalistic style articles.
