Learning outcomes:
A knowledge set about the iron-carbon alloys behavior when heated to melting points, crystallization and rapid cooling. Understanding the factors influencing the probability of formation of technological cracks during surfacing and welding, operate with methods of influencing them. Аssess the weldability of structural materials, using computational and experimental methods. Understand the processes that determine the ability of materials to form strong joints and welded coatings from liquid, solid and gaseous states, learn to evaluate their performance.

Summary of the subject:
Structure, properties and behavior of iron-carbon alloys under heating and cooling and the influence of their chemical composition. The ability of structural materials to form strong and reliable welded joints made in different physical states and different technologies. The nature, behavior and patterns of formation of cold, hot and operational cracks in welded joints of steels and assessment of the tendency to their formation.
