Learning outcomes:
• knowledge of classification and characteristics of vaccine preparations; of the composition of the vaccines; of basics of vaccinal prevention and mechanisms of antibody production and the basics of the immune response of the vaccinated organism, contraindications to vaccination;
• understanding of the technological processes for the production of vaccines and methods of quality control that guarantee effective immunological products of acceptable quality;
• ability to analyze and generalize the received knowledge of the technology of vaccines and to build the technological scheme of industrial production of vaccines.

• Genetics (general and molecular);
• Biotechnology of immunopreparations and probiotics;
• Bioengineering (cell and genetic).

Summary of the subject:
Basic biotechnology concept of vaccinology. Vaccines. Classification of vaccines. The composition of the vaccines. Anatoxins. Adjuvants: a classification according to origin, physical and chemical properties and characteristics. Bacterial vaccines for prevention of infectious diseases. Technological scheme of production of bacterial vaccines. Viral vaccines for the prevention of infectious diseases. The composition and technology of production of combined vaccines. Peptide and ribosomal vaccines. Scheme of production of ribosomal vaccines. Plant-based vaccines. Industrial production of vaccines. Requirements for vaccines. Quality control of vaccines. Parameters of quality of vaccines.
