Learning outcomes:
• Know the existing techniques of polychromy of stone artworks; the laws of coloristic design of works of art and architecture (facades, interiors, details, masonry) with regard to chronological periods and stylistic features; features of polychromy of stone details of Lviv buildings of 15th – 18th centuries; modern methods of determining the authentic polychromy and methods that are available in field studies of architectural monument;
• be able to perform a full-scale field research of polychromy of artwork, perform fixation (colored drawings) of architectural detail polychromy etc.;
• be aware of the existence of a polychromatic palette in certain architectural styles, techniques for processing stone and plaster, monumental painting techniques etc.

Summary of the subject:
Discipline "Techniques of Polychromy of Stone Artworks" is a part of the course of professional training of conservators of stone and provides the necessary training to perform complex projects of conservation of stone artworks. Lectures of the course introduce students to the existing techniques and technologies of polychromy of stone artworks on a background of the historical process of styles evolution. The practical part of the course is to explore the methods of field research of architectural monuments in aim to reveal the polychromy (on the base of Lviv historical architectural reservation), to determine the arsenal of polychrome techniques and to execute the course work, consisting of two tasks: 1) the polychromy of the interior of the chosen sacral building of the city; 2) polychrome techniques (on the example of Lviv objects).
