Learning outcomes:
Be able:
- choose the material of the cutting unit and the geometric parameters of the cutting edge;
- design cutting tools;
- the technological processes of manufacture and recover the cutting properties.
Know:
- methods of forming working surfaces of machine parts and providing them with the necessary tools;
- processes and equipment to ensure proper quality of tools, their dimensional stability;
- aided design techniques.

1. Descriptive geometry and engineering drawing.
2. Technology of construction materials.
3. Material science.
4. Machines parts.
5. Interchangeability, standardization and technical measurements.
6. The theory of cutting.
Summary of the subject:
Gear milling cutter. Gear-shaping cutter. Spline hob. Shaver. Tools for the formation of tooth bevel gears. Non-volunteer profile rolling tool. Disk tools for manufacturing screw parts. General concepts of manufacturing technology of cutting tools. Methods of forming workpieces of cutting tools. Features of mechanical operations for the manufacture of cutting tools. Heat treatment of metal cutting tools.
