- fundamental philosophical theories and concepts in the field of Humanities and Social and Economic Sciences, ethical and legal norms governing interpersonal relationship and man’s attitude to environment;
- the evolution of linguistic paradigms of the XIX-XXI centuries;
- linguistics as a study of the ontology of language as a system of signs, language structure and functions, as well as a social phenomenon;
- modern scientific linguistic methods, which are used in lexicography, corpus and cognitive linguistics, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, terminology, machine translation, etc.;
- principles of translation as a special type of communication, which takes into account its objective and subjective aspects;
- systems analysis and theoretical Cybernetics methods in the construction of information models of various objects and processes;
- principles of language processing algorithms development;
- hardware and software information processes; the foundations of corpus linguistics, the main areas of computational linguistics.
- to translate scientific, technical, business and socio-political texts with the help of computer-aided translation software;
- to summarize and annotate texts of different genres in the native and foreign languages;
- to conduct linguistic analysis of different types of texts/ discourses, including phonological, lexical-semantic, morphological and syntactic, content, sentiment analyses, etc.;
- to use technical and software tools for information processes, such as modern search engines, databases and knowledge bases, information transfer and storage systems;
- to apply necessary skills for compiling dictionaries, including electronic ones as well as to have a good command of modern linguistic terminology and terminology in the field of information technologies;
- to design language processing algorithms;
- to compile text corpora with corresponding marking up and tagging as well as lingual databases.
